CORI
HUSTON
My name is Cori Huston, and I am an owner of Convenient Tax Service with my sister, Wendy Vernon. I have prepared taxes since 1989. It’s an odd thing to say, but I actually have a passion for tax preparation. I enjoy helping clients understand enough of how taxes work so they can save money using a few basic principles.
I am available year-round for questions and I encourage my clients to reach out with their tax questions – especially during times of transition, such as retirement or divorce – and when they have financial decisions to make that can have tax consequences. I appreciate and value the client relationships that my team and I have developed over the years.
After tax season, I work with my sister, Wendy, running a Merry Maids franchise. I first started working in the family business in 1987 when our Mom, Sue Covington, opened the franchise territory. Since then, Wendy and I have taken over the business. Prior to that, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
In my free time, I enjoy having a young family (triplets, if you can believe) and watching them grow and develop. My family and I enjoy skiing, traveling and watching the kids play in their school sports. Some recent destinations include Iceland, England, Italy and traveling across the United States including visiting family in Florida. I have a passion for helping women experiencing domestic abuse and, in 2000 started a local donation drive through Merry Maids that collected toys, toiletries and household goods from clients for the Sojourner Truth House, a local women’s shelter. Our charitable effort was adopted by the home office to become Helping Hands of Merry Maids, a national charity utilizing other Merry Maids owners across the country for their local shelters. I’m proud to say that in 2004 I won the Milwaukee Business Journal’s Women of Influence Award, the same year that my Mom, Sue, won her Working Woman Award.
Please contact me or my friendly staff if we can help.
